Khan left his position as a hedge fund manager in late 2009 so that he could devote all of his time to building his YouTube channel, Khan Academy, thanks to their success on the video-sharing website and the positive feedback from grateful students. Immigrant parents reared Khan from Calcutta, India, and Barisal, Bangladesh, in New Orleans, Louisiana. As of February 2011, his official YouTube channel, Khan Academy, had received more than 41 million views. At his house, he has created more than 2,200 well-liked movies that explain various ideas, primarily focusing on mathematics and the sciences.
